Michael:
Due to the large spread in exposure from the canyon to the sky, I've pushed the sky as far as it will go in PS without adding false elements. I could try an overlay, but I try to work within the setting handed to me.
I can e-mail you the full rez shot if you ever want to give it a try.

Jim:
The glow is from the compression. I actually went back after seperately masking the sky, reflection, walls, etc. seperately and had to go pixel by pixel to remove the poor cross over masking with the clone tool.
I am so perfectionist (Hugo can testify to this) that I noticed the "glow" too as masking lines and trued them up, but somehow the resize and sharpening made them pop up again. Weird.

I will have to return to this and try a brightening across the sky.

Stellar image. I like the sky as is also. The exposure is more natural and the contrast between the shadowy canyon and sky (w/reflection) really grabs your eye. I don't kno what might be causing it, but there seems to be a bit of a glow in the reflection where the sky and the cliffs meet. I'm not sure if this is the result of burning the area or not. If so I would try revising it to minimize the "glow" effect. Then again only someone with a fine eye would ever notice. I guess I would revise that if I were to make a print. Aside from the constructive criticism wonderful shot.

You are a genious and you travel well! Unlike M.Fox I don't agree about the sky...I think it would distract from the incredible texture of the walls. My only improvement would be to have slightly brightened the reflection, like this. Fantastic place, shot, and composition. Sal

Hi Michael, you had me browsing back to the previous ones, only to find that this one is (at least IMO) the best one, as the exposure (or post treatment) shows a very well balanced overview of the canyon, both in details as well as in tonal range. The very subtle reflection on the waterfront on the right creates an additional feature, guiding the eye towards the entrance (or bend) in th canyon. A very nice touch, just what the scene needs... Very good work!
Funny though. Your panoramic uploads over the last few days inspired me to attempt something similar, and now you're (temporarily, I hope) back to "regular sized" formats...
Cheers,
Hugo

Michael -- Nice one. Too bad they don't make a wedge-shaped neutral density filter! Could you overlay a deeper sky in PS? I love the deep blue in the river and the reflection of the cliffs. This scene looks so peaceful. You must have gotten your feet wet to capture this one.
