Hi Mireille, I think what you see as a human being is the "needle" on top of the tower. Don't think you could spot people from this angle / distance...:)

Hi Hugo. I keep forgetting about the new pano feature. Once I viewed the image in full size, the problem went away. So I am guessing that maybe it must be something to do with compression issues for the one on this page?

I agree, Hugo, I prefer the color version. The yellow and green leaves are losing their impact in B & W, and they are important in this composition. I thought maybe a black sky - more like a negative would be OK, but nah! forget it!... I tried all my filters in PS and none of them achieved anything better in B & W - so the color version IS the best! I'm not even going to attach anything because they all looked artificial. It's best the way it is.

Hi Roger, thanks for the feedback, and I was wondering about that too. The difference between the med. sized image and the pano is quite substantial. And yes, I did oversharpened it. Don't know why I did, the original was quite ok (sharpness-wise) That, and possibly the effect of the time of day and the bright lighting condition with the autumn effect on the leafs (crumpling edges, reflecting in the light) might create the effect... Luckily, I still have the original file....

Hi Ina, thanks for your feedback, and yes, there is the relation with that song, but only a vague one, no real connection intended. It's something I've been toying with, though: a series based on a song. Not much progress, though. Per attached the B&W version. Wonder what you think... I'm not convinced it's an improvement...

Hi Saeed, tthanks for the advice. I used medium sharpening when I uploaded this one, and I guess the oversharpened effect is due to my Photoshop actions in combination with the rather hard lighting on midday. I now use no sharpening. Have you looked at the 1200 pix pano? Looks better, I think. Resizing for the web page / medium sized photo didn't do much good to the image quality.

Hi Thilo, no pol filter, just a bit of level adjustments. I did oversharpen it a bit, I guess. Could also have to do with the hard lighting, I fear, but I'd go with the sharpening theory.

Hi Karen, thanks for the feedback. About the noisiness... I've looked at the large pano over and over again, but don't quite see what you mean. It is slightly oversharpened in that area, probably, although that is also partially the effect of the harsh noon light, and the leafs are already curling up a bit in the autumn.... I didn't do much to this shot, apart from some minor layer adjustments, a bit (too much) sharpening and cropping, so it's basically as shot. If you care to elaborate a bit more on the noise, I'd appreciate it!

The pano of this image is quite dynamic and i like the vibrant blue sky with the white and yellows...we are seeing some of that sun here n'there lately,but still getting the liquid sunshine,too ;>

As for this picture, wonderfull colours. I like the needle standing not straight, almost like has to be this way. The trees are forming a nice natural frame. The top of the picture has a wonderfull blue colour, but the bottom of the picture is almost overlight of something. Don't exactly know what it is.. But overall still a wonderfull picture! Compliments!

I wonder if everyone is referencing the enlarged panorama view for their comments? It is only this that is uploaded "as is." The one that fits inside the 850 x 850 limits for display on the page is resized by Usefilm software with additional sharpening as selected by you when uploading ("none," "mild," etc). Of course, Hugo, you are putting your best effort (sharpening, etc.) into the panorama view, which means they are NOT optimized for the page display, especially if unknown software is changing things... Even so, the panorama looks as if it was rather soft originally and you sharpened it quite strongly. It has that gritty look. The view (angle, perspective, crop) is fine, but image quality is not your best. Lots better than a mobile phone, though.

Great composition Hugo, the vertical is divided diagonally by the tower and the two warm colored leafy parts act as a perfect counterbalance for composition and color. The blue gradation is great from top to bottom, andit looks very natural. I love the sharpness in all your pictures (f16 to f29 in the previous post - WOW - I need to get me a lens like that) and there seems to be a song in the background "Once, twice, three times a lady" - although I'm not sure if the Needle is a lady in the same sense as we call a house "a grand lady." But it fits, I think. High noon is the harshest light, and you managed to catch still wonderful definition in the shady areas. It looks even better in the large version! Very, very sleek! I'd like to see a B & W version too :) Best regards, Ina

You did cornered that beautiful architecture "tower", the two portions of green created a focal point and lead the eye to the centre, this is a kill shot, where a way from normal tourist composition. Very well balanced.
Ps. I think you need to be careful when uploading images not select "Heavy" image sharpening, or may be was selected by default, especially with image size 850x850 pix or less, I had to delete my photo twice yesterday due to over sharp by the system, it took me a long time to find out .

I had taken a similar image when we last visited the needle, only without the greenery, and we had an overcast sky. There does seem to be quite a bit of noisiness, but it appears as if this is only part of the theme of the image. I'm guessing your intentions were to go for a space agey type of image-perfect subject (Space Needle) for this idea. I also like the harshness of contrast presented here. Interesting work, its always nice to see things put into a different perspective than what we are all used to~

dear Hugo the image is beautiful in its form of composition, contrast , and colors but very noisy,specially on the forground, and the details on the front of the tower after the big circule downward look washed out with the ,never the less i did enjoy alot the idea of having it captured from this angel and in this beautiful way.Still the forground need to be looked for sharpness wise .all of the best my dear friend .

I like the composition with three "catching up" each diagonal corner, as switching the tower back and forward between them.... No not really, but i like the balance of that idea and it also blance the tilt of the tower. I heard recently that it´s a restaurant up there and i can opnly imagine the view. Nice rich blue sky!
Thanks for your comment on my first posted reflection image. I had to remove it cause there was such og quality when posting it, had to prepare for webb ... but meanwhile there´s something else until i will re-post.
