HI Susie, this is gorgeous! It looks like a lovely place to be. It made me wonder where in USA this is. Excuse my ignorance, but WA is washington, isn't it? I like the shadow too, but cannot decide which version I like better.

Hwy looked like a word in the Welsh language to me before I realised it was an abbreviation for Highway... It's a beautiful scene, and I'd be hard put to choose between the two you have posted.

Hi Susie, I don't think there is any question this one is the better of the two. My reasoning is the balance and the intresting detail in this shot far outweigh that of the one attached. I think in the one below, the shadow of the bridge might be okay, but there is far too much unnecessary sand that dominates the image and makes the flow of the river awkward and secondary. In the one you posted, the sky, mountains, river, sand, trees and shadow are all perfectly proportioned. I suppose you could say it leans more towards being a pleasing to the eye classic landscape. Just my assessment :) Andre

Why do you need to make a choice, Susie? Both pictures are very good. Different, but good. So, upload both and we are all happy. I personally prefer the second one. It has more depth and a stronger message to me. But that's only me.

Oh Susie....I hate choosing (that's Libra for you) Eenie meenie mineie mo....for the main one I will go. I think I prefer the off-centre shadow from the bridge and the tree that frames the left hand side. Now let me concentrate!!! The overall composition is wonderful, it's filled with gorgeous colours and strong details sweetie a very pleasing result..Very best wishes,'see' you soon...Ray

Splendid landscape, the image is a lot very detailed, also without to use the tripod, the colors are saturate and the shadow of the bridge is the final touch. Ciao Ninni

Oooh, this is tough... they're both glorious.
I do like this one because of the feeling open space and the pleasing division between sky, land and water.
But...
I think I may prefer the second one, and here's why;
- The more centered composition accentuates the natural V of the backgound elements seemingly meeting up with the diagonal row of Pines... giving the scene symmetry. - The downward angle of the shot exaggerates the perspective of the foreground, making it appear closer, larger and more detailed. - The above two attributes combine to give an almost wide-angle or fish-eye appearance.
Just my opinion though Susie. Different people see different things. As I say, they're both magnificent images and it's very difficult to make a preference. Both should make you very proud.
Cheers Rina

Hi Susie, both versions are great, I wouldn't know which one to choose! I love the complex shadow of the bridge, and its implied presence, while we only see the beautiful surrounding landscape. Wonderful scenery with the river, the mountains and the forest, and great summer colors! PS. Do you mean that you use a tripod all the time? How do you follow the kids with the tripod? Wow, that's how you know a dedicated photographer! Best regards, Ina

Susie this is a gorgeous photo. The details and clarity in this are wonderful and it's such a lovely scene. I would love to paddle around there on a kayak. The colours are beautiful. This one goes into my faves. I love it.
Thank you also for your lovely comment on my Bridge over the waterfall image. It's taken me a lot of practice photographing many waterfalls to get my shutter speeds/apertures to where I'm happy with them but I always enjoy the challenge of learning.
Thanks again Susie for all your support and encouragement.
Cheers - Ann :)
