About Taken in Center, Colorado, yesterday Jan 28, 2006.

Canon F1
1/125 sec, f16 or something about like that

Just messing around...

Got the film developed a Wal-Mart (sorry, but those text ads got me)- one hr prints and
they left a roller mark on this print. I remember these from my KISS lab days.
Had them put the scans on cd. Apparently Wal-Mart just scans the prints...because the roller mark was also on the scan...in this case a 3x5 print...
initial changes in Picasa2...brightness, contrast, crop
with Lview Pro 2.0.. remove tree branches in upper left sky and duplicate blue sky there, pixel out highlights and roller mark, save as tiff - should have done that first?
additional changes in Gimp...burn foreground snow out, scale image down and resize file, save as JPEG

I washed out the white wall on purpose. Not too sure about that. I lost some detail in the sky branches in the final tiff to jpeg + resize

Titles:" I saw the light" or "The Branch" ?

Whatcha think?

I'll post the original below this.

edit: a day later and it's apparent the top of the roof on the left side has some unnatural looking natural shadowing there. I should have pixeled that out. The print (paper from the cd) looks better than the onscreen version. I'll work on it...

Hi Kes, I love the rich saturation, your efforts paid off with this beautiful image. Nice title, the lighting in incredible, wonderful play of shadows, great work as always. I'd go with the 20D if I were you, I love mine, I'm definitely a Canon girl..hahaha..Thank you for your comment to me, take care, Linda

Thanks Janet!

No camera yet...I was looking at the Canons and Nikons (chevy and ford) and then...

...I saw that olympus (hungry for business) is addressing sensor dust and lcd screen preview issues with their E-330. It's coming out in March. It appears they also have made some improvements to the noise in higer ISO settings.

I'm still in the thinkin' mode. Might go D50 - or 20D should drop in price if 30D comes out. And on and on!

Love the deep contrasting blue against the white and the perspective of this is outstanding! Really great post-processing.

Any luck on getting that new camera yet??

Very nicely seen Kes. What an unusual structure. The quality looks pretty good to me despite all of the problems you had getting it developed. The colors are great.

Andre -

Thanks! Yes!! You saw the lights! I didn't think the lock was recognizable due to my overworking of the shot. Lots of "spot-on" theology here!

Interesting shot Kes.
I "saw two lights" and a motion detector!
Also a little strange that a lock would be on the door of a chapel? Great shadow play in this shot too Kes.

Great photograph with intersting shadows and lovely blues. I think well executed postprocess, well done dear Kes!

Kind regards!

Wow, incredible composition! Sorry to hear about the processing, that's a bummer! Still think that the image is a good one! Take care my friend! Darlene

After a hard days work.. You saw the light... Its a nice composition but i guess you could have better control in case wal-mart did not intervene with their creativity.
