About A fellow photog. and I were stuck indoors on a foggy day and so we bought some flowers and used the hotlights she had brought home from work to take some still life shots. Hope this brightens some peoples days!

I tried rotating the image, but it didn't really look like I thought it would. The attached (a very quick and dirty PS job) is sort of what I'm talking about - less of a 50/50 split. (I also tried to tone down the center of the flower a bit, but that was an even quicker and dirtier PS job.) :p

Hmm, then I am a little lost on which flower you're talking about... want to give it a go in PS and post it? I too, miss the pink flowers in the bg in the new crop...

Oops... didn't explain myself properly. No! Don't center that flower! :-) I like your new crop and how the yellow flower dominates, but I miss the pink flowers... hmm... I wonder if things would change if the original image were rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise? (Where or why I think of these things, I don't know!)

Hi Kim, I much prefer the square format, Becky is right, the composition is now well balanced.

Usually I will try to not centre things, but for this, I think it works even though the yellow flower takes up half of the image. But I am interested in what others have to say as well, because even though I like an image doesn't mean that people agree with me *grin*... here is a crop which lets the yellow flower dominate. Which is better?

They say it's spring... la da da deedah dahdah.... :-p

I like your unique composition here, but just out of personal preference, I'd like to see the foreground flower fill the pic a little more, so the shot isn't so "half and half". The yellow flower is also a liiiitle hot on the right hand side.

I really like the depth you've achieved here. I also like (and I may be completely off my rocker with this comment), the separation of the pink flowers in the background. That small empty space balances out the photo and makes the yellows and oranges really stand out, I think.

Brightens an otherwise cold and damp night here in London! Thank you.
