hi and thanks for indepth comment,Ann...crazy thing is,i never sharpen any of my images because i don't like the look, and even ticked off the "none" for no UF sharpening...i think it is just the contrast level because the whole image is full of texture
You are 2nd person to mention the prehistoric look and that fits because these are very old trees in the rainforest on the peninsula...
Yes, it would be funny with a gigantic lizard!
not feeling very well at the moment,so will be in touch later on.....cheerios,gayle

Very Jurrasic Park Gayle. Such a prehistoric looking tree with the ferns. I half expect a prehistoric creature to come out of that hobbit like hole in the trunk (I was very tempted to put in my wedding buffet lizard - mwhahaha) Interesting texture. At first I thought it was oversharpened but then I saw it was your intention and adds to the effect. Great work.
Thanks again for dropping by my Farewell image. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers from Ann :)

The texture in this scene is great and works so well in a B&W image. You might want to explore burning the background so the tree trunk stands out more. As is the textures of the trunk and dense foliage behind the tree tend to meld together.
