Megan - The dark line is the shadow of the distant mountain peak being thrown onto the underside of the clouds by the setting sun! This series was taken over a period of about 5 minutes to capture the progression of the shadow 'line'.

Now this whole line of photos is neat. I have never seen anything like that IRL before (seeing how I am on the east coast) Great captures. I would have liked to have had the clouds in focus all the way through the picture in this one, but the effect is awsome.
