Another great actions shot with lovely details. This
equipment is great contrast in the nice landscape.
Well captured interesting work, love the nice colours and
the well detailed foreground. The backgound is well
framing this activity. A great photograph dear Kathy!

Have a nice day my friend!

Kathy, that was a great photo opportunity! the drizzly weather and low clouds enhances the light quality and that top of the world feel.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the honest critique. I agree that the overexposed area, and the cables getting lost in it is a problem. I'm not sure how I should deal with that. The day that I had to shoot these was overcast and drizzly. Being relatively new to a camera I'm in a "learn as I go" phase. Any constructive help is very much appreciated! I didn't take these shots for any project, but simply because a friend of ours, who is a logger, asked me to. Hopefully I'm going to get a chance to get back up there on Tuesday to take some more shots. I'm hoping to get some better ones.
Thanks again for commenting.

LOVE the motion in the arm Kathy. Spectacular sense of movement and power. Beautifully taken once again. Although, I think it seems to be a little overexposed in the top-left, I'm not overly distracted by it. The loader more than steals the scene here! :)

Cheers

It was just the feeling I got from the fallen trees and the ones left in the middleground. I like the photo, I just thought I would express my feelings from it. I live in an area that contains the results of past years strip minning. I know we have come a long way from those days, but the effects of past practice still sticks in my mind for the environment.

hello kathy, well firstly thank you for regurlarly making comments on my stuff.now for the honesty.i think the comment you made has to replaceing the trees caught my attention (something i never new) more than the shot.the overexposed area and the motion blur kind of distracts the eye ,the colours are rich but the overexposure had led to the cables getting lost in transit! i dont mean to be mean but the two points do kill the shot ,a scenic landscape for which i would love to be around . however your reasons for this shot may be for some project or something?
ouch !

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the comment! It's too bad that you see this as a feeling of destruction. The logging industry probably does more to replace what it has taken than any other. As soon as logs from this area are taken to market it is replanted. I'm not positive about the numbers, but it is at least two trees planted to every one that is cut. In about 25 years this area will be ready to be re-logged. In the last few years great strides have been taken to improve the logging industry, with much success.
Thanks again for taking a look!

Thanks for the nice comment, Don! The lines that you see are guy lines that run from the yarder to the ground to secure it. The lines have nothing to do with the loader. The yarder pulls the felled trees from wherever they were cut into the landing. I may be posting a picture soon that includes that piece of equipment.

The motion of the loader and the emptiness of the trees against the mountain with few trees left standing in the middle ground gives a feeling of destruction.
Nice shot.

Kathy,
You have a nice little blur on the working end of this loader! You caught it in action perfectly! It is a nice "working-man's" series you are creating with this set.
BTW. It's nice the way the last four of your images go so well together in your portfolio. I love it when that happens. Sometimes it's by design and sometimes purely by accident.

Wonderful shot my dear Kathy and I love the motion blur from this logging equipment, it adds to the atmosphere of this logging camp. The colours are great and the details superb and like Dave observed it is excellent to see you follow through from the last posting. Well done to you sweetie. My very best wishes to you as always....Ray

Very interesting follow-up to the previous shot! Yes, the machine has the necessary colour to "wake up" the wintery mountains! The wood colour is here, too, very attractive.

Good follow up shot on your last post, Kathy! Great colours in this one. It's a shame to see all that bare earth though, I'm glad you told us about the reforestation projects.
Dave.

The bright yellow of that monster really stands out against all the natural color...great contrast and composition Kathy. The bit of motion adds a nice touch too!

The colors are really nice in this Sissy. Well saturated and very eye catching. I like how you got a little motion on the loader too. It gives it a "working" feel. Nicely composed (as usual) with really interesting unusual subject matter. (Hope it's nice Tuesday!)
