The model is beautiful, the light is beautiful, the pS work works, also the props works matches her dress and is dark enough that don't detract from her.Love her expression too.A great child pic does not need to be smilling in my opinion.I would not change anything here.Beautiful!

Thanks Matt. This is my fault. I use a PS action which applies a softening to my images. Her cheeks were kind of wind burn and blotchy. I probably messed with the image to much in PS.

Thanks

Phillip,

You are an excellent portraitist - but whomever applied all that paint to this child really went overboard.
She looks all pasty and overdone.

Thanks for the comments and observations.

Don, I anderstand that childrens photos probably should be cheery, and all smiles, but sometimes they have looks like these. Watch them as they sit around the house, or are out in the yard. This little girl, has one of the most cheezy smiles I've ever seen ;). I know this little tyke personally.

It wasn't my intention to create cheery, smiley, shots when her in this type of setting. Thus the [non cheery] looks. I'm trying to move on to more of a classical / fine art type of photography for lack of a better term. I could place her in another type of set, and get those all day if I wanted to, but that wasn't the intention here.

Thanks for your input and comments. They are appreciated. Please don't take my comments as being on the defense, but I think people sometimes don't really know what a photographer is trying to accomplish sometimes. I do agree with you about cheery and smiles, but not in this case.

When I'm shooting, I had pre-determined ideas that I'm trying to capture or gain.

Regards,

I can't rate this too high. The posing of the hands is not right. Good facial tones. A little heavy lighting for a child. I prefer light and cheery.
