Yes the Mtn Dew is too soft, I was handholding the camera and the light was going quickly,... was travelling to my parents (7 hour trip) with two pre teen girls and was racing to get some shots of spectacular rainbow and late evening light, this I think was my last shot that evening, the contrast of the orange sky and neon green Dew bottle caught my eye . I will have time someday to get the tripod out and do things properly, but often my shots are taken between sales calls, walks with the dog and quick moments when I get lucky and the light is with me.
You are a good critic, I have read some of your comments on other photos in cc and you usually say what I would say... thus saving me the typing. Thanks. LD
Hi Larry, a great shot, and superb idea, except for one thing; the bottle is out of focus.
As, to me, the whole concept of this shot, including its title is build around that stray bottle of Dew, it makes the bottle the primary subject in this photo.
Not sure what camera settings you uses, or if you shot this photo hand held or with a tripod. I think I would've focused on the bottle first, and composed the scene with the same focus, using a small aperture. At these settings, a tripod comes in handy, and I only began using one on a more regular basis when I ran into the situation where I couldn't take a photo because of the shutterspeed being too slow to be shot hand held...
The tones, as well as the composition in this shot are awesome; excellent use of the lines in the parking lot too...
Amazing colours picked up by the wet pavement, Larry, and that one spot of bright green is a great contrast. It might have been a little better if the dew bottle was a little sharper. Dave.
