Hi Simon,
Quite an attractive shot but somewhere there is mismatch between body tones of hand , face and body. Again the way diamond is hold is not that interesting. Eyes are also unbalanced. Personally i haven't practiced any studio portraits yet, but these are my genuine views, i hope you don't mind.

Nicely done, Simon. I can't fault the technique or composition here. I agree with Justin about the model's expression. Maybe she needs a hint of a smile.
There are two small things that are a little bothersome to me. One is that the makeup on the eyes appears unbalanced, the right eye appears to have less than the left. The other is that the reflections in the fingernails make the right two fingernails appear to have grooves or folds. (The ringfinger's nail appears unevely cut.) These are minor issues concerning a well done photograph.

You know what I really hate - when you're so proud of an image you shot - something that you think is some of your finest work and then discovering that there's something crucial missing. You have shot a great image here, and I feel this way about many images in your portfolio, but in this particular image, that something is missing. I'm a photography student, so I constantly have people criticising my work. 95% of this image is flawless. The make-up, the lighting, the focal points, the key level, everything is in order, but your models' expression is the remaining 5% and the 5% that pulls the whole image down. I'm assuming you were going for a seductive, intimate kind of look, but she looks more lost than anything else. Her eyes are well focussed which is great, but I just feel that her expression can be largely improved.

I like this shot, I think it is very good indeed, but I also think advertisement photography demands 100% all the time to be successful.

Kind Regards,
- Justin
