Taken on the same day as Peiking Rigging. I did not have a polarizer, but I think the brightness of the sky counterpoints the water in this composition.
Alan - I think the softness comes from downsampling from the original and jpeg compression. The transparency looks great, as does the 1128dpi scan I get from my scanner.
Richard - I use a focussing screen with a grid, so I did not need to use a bubble level, but I got lazy and aligned the waterline with one of the grid lines. I think the next one was a little too low for me.
Howard -- I will eventually reshoot this region with my 150mm or 250mm telephotos. I'll play with cropping, but I think reshooting is the better option for me.
Taras, I love 6x6 images, just got an old beat up yashicamat 124G but it still works great. I like this picture a lot. Only thing I might have done different is a little less water and a little more sky to move the horizon out of the center of the frame. Well done and thank you for sharing it. Rich
Taras, nice image. I especially like the sky. Looks a little soft, which may be the scan. My only constructive comment would be that I'd crop out the out of focus items on the bottom of the frame.
