This is a fantastic shot, Dave. I have absolutely no problem with the branch. It seems quite natural to me, and would be appropriate to leave in. However, I do think that you could consider a different composition that would leave out some of the bottom and a little off the top.
The reason I think that it would be useful to crop off the bottom is that the large central rock has a shape that causes photo to appear to be dragged to the right at the bottom. Also, the reflections die out strongly at the bottom. The darkest clouds at the very top I think detract a bit too much from the extraordinary scene just below them. I've appended a suggested crop.
What a fantastic scene, Dave. And you've done a beautiful job of capturing it, even if you don't follow my advice. Steve

Hi Dave, a spectacular shot; the muddy ice in the foreground add a great prelude to the bay with the sunset flanked by the strips of land; a classic set up, and a beautiful one at that.
The detail of the the splash lit up by the last rays of the sun is just excellent. Hope you managed to get a close up of that too...
Cheers,
Hugo

Rugged, wild and beautiful. This image really seems to convey the true nature of the place. You dont post often Dave, but when you do its really worth it! Well done.( The only minor critique I have is the branch in the bottom that seems out of place - only evidence that plants actually grow here. If that was intentional I would suggest a more integral part in the composition). Joggie

Oh yes, and since this is Critiquer's Corner, may I suggest you return the compliment and start giving more critiques yourself? Your obvious expertise could be a tremendous help to the rest of us stumbling along far behind you...

It's hard to find anything other than praise for such a technically competent photo of such a beautiful scene. Why not choose something with a few minor imperfections for people to pick at for Critiquer's Corner, or don't you ever take photos like that? [shaking head admiringly]

Great warm sunset colors and such a wonderful dramatic scene. I agree with Dave Dixon's critique about the limb in the lower right corner of the image but an easy fix by removing it in Photoshop. Excellent compositional flow, I love the wide angle of the scene. You really do have a super photograph here!
Many compliments and best wishes........Mike

Good composition, and nice use foreground detail to draw the eye in. The only thing which I think I'd change is twigs(?) near the bottom right-hand corner. They seem a little fine and spindly in comparison the the rest of the foreground objects which are comparatively 'chunky' and so seem a bit incongruous. That's a very minor criticism though - this is still a greta photograph
