I see from the comments you've already received that I'm going to be the first to dissent on the artistic and technical merit of this picture.
The man has a very interesting expression Joao - in a cinematic kind of way - and it gives a certain mystery to the shot. The girl however is just plain odd - so odd that she ruins it for me. The picture needs a slightly tighter crop too - I'd take out the black space at the right almost up to the girl's shoulder and I'd probably take out about half of the black space over the man's head.

This picture is the true moment (the instant) ,when the time stops and we only feel the shot of the Nikon.Otherwaise you took this picture some years ago ,we can see it by the suit of the bodygard and it gives to the foto a serious place in fotojornalism.By the end this foto was taken in a special moment of Azorian Religion, the festivities of St Cristo dos milagres that is several emotive for most of themselfes and this foto as the hability in giving to us all these properties.Keep on your good work. Well, first of all, Joćo, this is a terrific capture and a terrific portrait. The composition of the people on the diagonal is super, the black and white tones are super, and the graininess is super.
It's not absolutely necessary, but I think that if you trim a little off the top, it would increase the dramatic impact on a photo that already has tremendous dramatic impact. Example below.

I keep on expecting to hear a voice over narrative for this. After watching Lucky number Slevin this paring of a young person with someone who looks almost like a hit man, is poetic. Really nice black and white, the clarity really let's his personality come thru.
