City - Kinderdijk State - ZUID-HOLLAND Country - Netherlands
About
Around 1740, nineteen mills were built at Kinderdijk to drain the excess water from the Alblasserwaard polders. Nowadays, the job is done by a modern water screw pumping-station. In 1997 the mills of Kinderdijk were put on the World Heritage List of UNESCO.
This is a lovely rural scene, or travel shot. Well composed with an amazing sky, it suits balack and white well. Thanks for the background information also. Regards, Gary
