Hi Hugo and thank you for the great comment!
Unfortunately I don't remember where I put the photo on the scanner - you see I scan four photos on a single scanning process using the whole area of the glass plate and making a separate scanning sub-area of each of the four photos.
The difference in brightness that your sharp eye immediately recognized is only the edge of the curtain at the windows of my old home in Hergiswil. I shot that photo through the window since the sight was best from that room but that window cannot be opened. I was standing very close to it, focused at infinity and so the curtain edge became a hardly visible stripe of lower brightness on the left. I left it that way for the sake of keeping the spatial proportions intact. So it has been only defocusing up to (almost) invisibility.
Many thanks again and best wishes!

Hi Nick. Love the simplicity in this scene. The golden reflection of the sun, creating the curvy line is escellent. Am I right in thinking you placed the printed photo on a different place of the fladbed scanner? there seems to be a slight transition in brightness on the left side of the image, near the edge. It's barely visible, though. I think you've almost got it under control. Curious what you changed in your workflow, if anything....
Cheers,
Hugo
