I am sure that my comments will mirror others here but I have not looked yet just to see if I am close with my take on this one Kelly. This one looks like too much of a mug shot to me. Carrie shouldn't have been looking straight ahead like this. Perhaps just a bit of a turn. I would apply some kind of makeup to reduce the hotspots on her cheeks some and also to even out her skin tones. Also, I might get a bit closer to her to fill the frame with more Carrie and less background. That being said...you have a pretty model here with Carrie. Keep shooting with her and above all else....have fun!

I agree some makeup to reduce the shine on her face would help. Also, I have found that straight on shots tend to give a mug-shot type image. I always have the subject(s) turn their body and usually head to some degree away from the camera. Keep shooting. :)

Being a bit of an expert, the only thing that I could suggest is that you look carefully and just powder her cheeks slightly and bottom of her lip to get rid of the light "that flashes off" that area. Other than that you've captured a nice portrait of a friend for "fooling" around. I really enjoy reading the technical aspects that young photographers use, i.e. lens, shutter speeds, etc. So many of them today don't bother to write any of this info down anymore. . . Nice piece of work!

I'm not an expert by any means, but wonder if this photo would be better if it were closer?
