Hi Chris, I guess that'a mostly what photography is all about... memories! We always seem to do a bit better job on an image when the memory is meaningful. Good luck with the waterfall. Andre

Yes Fadel, We had a great time going back to that spot. I'm sure he tells me that he remembers going there the first time, but maybe it is only because he has seen my original prints over the years :) I'm pretty sure you commented on a lot of the ones that I posted from the first session 35 or 36 years ago. Old trucks and this 54 Chevy. They are all still there :) Andre

This is very beautiful shot, the fact that it is 36 years later makes it very emotional, I'm sure this series means a lot to you and your brother.

Thanks once again Jinggoy, This is one of my favourite Photographic "stories", It is like a double memory for me. Very nostalgic, with my brother all grown up with kids of his own and the old car still in the same place. Also because it confirms my interest in photography for over 30 years. Andre

Great story! It's good to be around places you grew up in, a trip down memory lane indeed - and you're lucky to have captured the moments! Composition on this photo is very good and well framed. Detail and sharpness where it matters.

Thanks again Jose, Yes, I am aware of all the 50's American cars in Cuba. The difference being, if this one was in Cuba, it would probably still be on the street running :) Andre

Thanks again Janet, Yes, it was a really nice experience to go back and re-shoot similar scenes after so much time. Actually I'm starting to think I might have been one or two years off on my calculation of when the original was taken. That would have made it 1971 or 72. When I was using a very nice darkroom at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. I took a few Photographic Arts courses there in the early seventies. So, it wasn't exactly my first serious shoot. However, it still remains one of my most successful shoots. Thanks for your kind comments! Andre

These are just awesome! What a wonderful trip down memory lane! And you were quite the pro back then, too, if this was your first shoot! Love the tones in the original...simply gorgeous. Glad you shared these, Andre, and added stories that make them even more special :) Have a great day!

Hi again Ray. I forgot the attachment. Actually, the glare isn't as bad as I remembered it to be. Maybe this would have been the better one to post? Andre

Hi Rina, Very cool! The only difference being that instead of having ice cream when we got back to the cottage, it was a couple of beers. :) Andre

Hi Ray, It is always a wonderful feeling going back to a place for more photos, after a lot of time has passed. This was a lot of fun. He might be the younger one... but I'm the good looking one :) I know exactly what you mean about the positioning of my brother. I have one where he is off to the side that I liked better. But, there was just too much glare from the windsheild in that image. I figured this was the lesser of the two evils. I'll attach the other below. you will see what I mean.
On another note along the same lines Ray, I have an old photo of myself and my Mom and Dad on a round-a-bout in a South London park, when I was about 4 years old. When I went back to London in July/73 I found the same round-a-bout and got my wife to take a photo of me on it. There is almost a mystical feeling when you just know you have been at that same place before and recorded it on film again years later. Andre

How cool is that... being able to go back and the car is still there. I bet it was a wonderful trip down memory lane and now you can have the before and after hanging side by side... Excellent.
Cheers Rina.

How time marches on Andre....I often feel the urge to return to my youthful scenarios and I will do it one of these days. An excellent mono toned portrait of your far older brother my friend:):):) Wonderful clarity, rich in details and well composed....though doubtless you might get criticised for the central posing.....water off a duck's back to me, see if I care. Great shot whilst journeying down memory lane. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Thanks Jim, These images are important to me for a couple of reasons. Obviously there is the amusing family document that I've created for my brother and I. But also the original images are from one of my first serious shoots. It may have been one of the first times when I set out to take a series of images specifically for working with them in the darkroom. I still have a few from this series framed. Thanks again for the comment and visit Jim! Andre

Hi Dave, I don't know about that, he's just as crazy as he always was :)
I just wish I had got him on the other side of the car like in the original. Andre
