Hi Mark, good saturation, and a very nice scene. The use of subjects in the foreground works well, although I'm not so sure about the front; the subjects are a bit detatched from the landscape itself.
On another level, I think a dominant subject to grab and hold the viewers attention would come in handy here, the composition of this photo kinda allows my attention to wander off, which is a pity, as it's well captured on all other aspects.

The focal piont is much more defined in this version. Also by placing the building lower in the frame, you convey scale and solitude much better with the surrounding landscape.

Another great picture Mark. Love this scene (but also saw nothing wrong with the shadows myself!). It is so good to see the difference things make. I keep thinking of heathers in the Wicklow mountains when I see this!
