Thank you, Ian! These two most recent pictures you've commented on are the front and back of the same shrine... shows what a difference the direction of the light makes. You would enjoy Japan, although there is much that is ugly as well as all the traditional beauties.

Not QUITE right, Ray. This is a different statue of a different mythical character and a different shrine--but all part of the same great complex of shrines that has grown up on Mt. Takao over the last thousand years or so.
