About
I went for a hike today at Charleston Lake Provincial Park. It is a beautiful park and I highly recomend visiting if you are in the Thousand Islands region. I can't decide if I like this photograph or not. There are elements that I like, and some that I am unsure of (like the piece of driftwood and the exposure). Please let me know what you think.
Hi Ashley, splendid tranquility in this scene, and a very good composition, using the diagonal between the branch and the island, as well as the "rule of thirds" nicely.
Eventhough the approach is flawless, I think there's not enough happening in the top of the photo to make optimal use of this composition - a landscape format could also have worked here.
I think consising the view is another valid option; still with the horizon on the lower 1/3rd, but with less sky. That would probably require an even lower PoV.
Another thing I think could probably increase the impact of this photo is if you'd increase the tonal range a bit, possibly with a higher level of saturation. Just a thought.
I do like this photo, very nice and relaxing atmosphere, and well captured.
It certainly is a beautiful park and this is a beautiful picture! The blues and textures wonderful. I actually like the driftwood- it gives a sense of size and I love its reflection.
