I agree with the previous statements about the drop shadowing. I think it would really round things out very nicely. When you where working on the picture I didnt see it, but now, with it placed against an off white bg, I can really see that the 3 dimensional balance would really make a huge impact on the viewers perception of this piece.

Other than that I think it is very well balanced from left to right, and I like the text the way it is.

Great job here...

Always~ Joey

WOW.. what a comment,,, thank you very much! You gave me a bit of everything I needed and asked for. I do appreciate that very much. I need it! I want to learn as much as I've forgotton (amnesia part) and get even better so that by the end of the year (perhaps) I can have my business going better than ever! Yes, a 13 year old is hard and she wont be the last. She has 2 younger sisters coming up behind her fast. I keep trying to keep the youngest a baby but it just isnt working! Lol.. thanks so much!

Honesty warning:

I think the hard-edged rectangular photos feel like a novice composite. (I realize customer vs. family creates different expectations on how much work one puts into the shot). It's not helped by the odd white spaces left over, like the photos were so many pieces of paper laid out on the table that didn't fit. Here are some suggestions for improving this technique:

- Make sure to leave a bit of white border all the way around to help guide the eye around the collection
- don't have a really thick stroke on one photo, and thin on the others. It then looks like it wasn't planned to be a composite.
- Perhaps add a stroke all the way around your border instead, to create a boundary for your master image?
- Perhaps add a drop shadow, to give the photos some dimension and separate them from the BG?
- Best of all, only keep the main focus of each image, and using a lasso and feathered edge, remove everything else.

I say this because I see you trying to improve, and I wish to see you succeed, Mandy. ;)

Honest . . . critical . . . Maybe sometimes nice?? Oh, come on, you can't "have your cake and eat it too!"
....A montage from anytown, Anystate, USA . . .
....A lady with a teenager? (Kill yourself NOW!)
.
.
Seriously though . . . you'll get enough honest, critical and sometimes nice from the kid. I have 5 children and 5 grandkids. The grandkids are rewards from God for not killing the kids. (Trust me). Having raised a child to age 13, even you must snicker at the childless experts who tell us how to do it (raise kids).
You have a wonderful montage (honesty) which probably would have been better balanced with writing in the middle instead of the lower right(critical) but which conveys a very nice moment in childhood and a successful parent (sometimes nice). If you're going to have a white background . . . I would anchor the four corners. Very pleasant . . . congratulations.

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
