Yeah, that's the crop I had in mind. It's all very subjective. The B&W fits nicely with this type of imagery, I believe. I'm not sure if the colour version would be more or less busy, and the business doesn't really affect the image, although I see what you mean.
I meant the tilt in the store front made the image look a bit askew, as well as provide a bit too much peripheral information; it's about the woman....
And this is, IMO again, exactly what usefilm is for; it's what I think is a fruitful discussion about photography - I'm merely venting what I would've done differently without differentiating between experiences...:)
thank you for your comment, i tried what you suggested (to crop the pic.) but maybe due to my inexperience i tried to keep the black & white awnning. inwhich probably makes the picture to busy. i was uncertain which was the better image ... that's why i'm still an amauetur.
Good grab shot. The challenge of shooting through a side window of a car is a great exercise in speed and composition. Great practice, which can also result in very interesting photos....
I think zooming in would be the key issue if it needs improving at all. The tilt from the horizon in the store front is a bit distracting. It takes away the attention from the woman, as it basically shows too much. The lamp post places her in the environment, and acts as a very useful tell tale in this type of street photography. So do the people and the DOF.
IMO, I think cropping it square would solve the "problem", and add the finishing touch... Very good photo, with a lot of potential in it.
