Hi Manu,
Yes there was a lot of PS work done to smooth out the background and even out the colour tones.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.

A real beauty...much work needed on it?

Cheers

Thank you very much Hugo, you have not been the first person to debate the thirds in this photo. In the near future I will post one that abides to the rules more for a comparison. Unfortunately when I took the picture not much is cropped on what you see here so I don't have a lot of extra picture to work with. I appreciate the time you took for the comment and thanks for the advice.
All the best,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Outstanding sharpness, and a very good macro photo; I like the simplicity of subjects, yet the details make the photo much more intricate than first meets the eye.

I do believe the image is a bit on the dark side; showing the crispness of the leafs might increase the impact of this shot, and I'm not convinced this, rather centered, composition gets the most out of the scene. I think obiding the thirds would probably increase the balance in this photo. On the other hand, it would harm the curved lines created by the leafs, I believe - just a thought.

I think the frame is a considerable improvement compared to the previous one, much more complimentary to the photo.

Thanks for putting the camera settings in the about, very useful; Looking at the DOF with macro, I would never have guessed you used only an aperture of f/5.6.... nice! As to the tones, I think you could easily pull the shutterspeed to 1/125th without blowing out the refraction of the light in the drop.

Cheers,

Hugo

This is an awesome shot Chris. Really well done. Normally, I would echo the other comments and mention the advisability of an off-center composition. Normally. In this case, however, as minimalistic as it is I think it's working very, very well. Tension (hence the dynamic aspect) is added by the placement of a wonderfully full droplet resting on a curved blade of foliage. The BG diagonal pulls the whole composition together and the darkness avoids unwanted intrusions into the piece. The reflections, color and DOF are spot on. Very impressive work!

Doyle I <~~~~~

Beautiful shot. The single, perfect water droplet highlighted by the dark greeen curvature of the leaves is very striking. Gorgeous.

NICE job Chris! This looks great. The reflection in the droplet is wonderful. Really good. I think if you cropped some off the left or right to take the droplet out of center it would enhance the composition though.

I love the darkness and the sharpness of this. The centering of the main subject bothers me a little, though. Maybe I'm too attached to those thirds...
