Marija--it is exactly that 3-D quality I try for in this kind of luxagraphic image. It is easier to take an image that is flat, but the real challenge is to give that depth while at the same time keeping the lines sharp and in focus. This orientation I feel emphasises that depth.

Oh, this must be your mother ship coming to pick you up;D
this one turned out very nice! I read your explanation of what it is originally, although I don't find it important once it became an abstract. I enjoy the net-like pattern on the left, it looks so 3D!

Surajeet--I would be hard-pressed to explain the process. It involves movement of the camera (clearly). I have been developing movement techniques, but to explain them? Warble? It is shot at night in a local pub. The thin yellow-ish lines, for example, are from rope lights. Hope that helps.

Rina--I think probably the most important thing to keep in mind about the image you see above is that it has hundreds of siblings that won't be famous! when I shot film I would rarely experiment with this kind of thing because of the expense. Now I can burn through my virtual film and don't mind that I get one shot out of 50. Try and try again.

I am so completely envious of both you and jude. I would kill to get results like yours. Gave up in frustration a while ago, but now after seeing this, temptation to try again is coming on strong... I'm off to have a sneaky peek at the rest of your stuff first...

Cheers
Rina.
