About If China is likened to a garden, the minority peoples of the country's southwest are its exotic flowers. Donning colourful costumes, serving up delicious food, speaking a cornucopia of languages, friendly and hospitable, and often living in remote and rugged terrain, these people make wonderful photographic subjects. Clockwise from top left, people of the Naxi, Mosu, Miao, Yi, Dai, and Zhuang minorities.

I'm down on my knees James, really exceptional work and the look of that boy on top left is so expressive.
in french we would say "chapeau" which means hat in english but does not make that much sense!

Crackin shots... I like the top right one the most just because the out of focus rendering of the guy in the boat sets off a perfect portrait without drawing too much attention. thanks for sharing.

Hi James,

Wanted to reply to your question in the forum, but my "donorship" expired, and I am unable to post a comment in the "donor only" forum.

In CS2 and indeed in older versions of PS you can just use your arrow keys on the keyboard to move the layers. This will give you greater precision as the layers will move in smaller increments. Also you could look at increasing the canvas size to get it to the desired size on wither the left or the right size.

And by the way can I suggest that your forum post would have been more apropiate for the "digital darkroom forum".

Regards,
Ciprian

P.S. Sorry for using this as a means to reply, you can ask for the comment to be deleted if you wish.

Well James, It's true that you posted it as one single image, but in the other hand, you're not showing one image, your're showing 6 diferent ones! So, in my opinion it counts as 6 images. But that's just my humble opinion.

Cheers,
ferran

i recently entered this photo in a competition. the competition guidelines were a bit vague and didnt expressly prohibit a composite upload, only specifying one upload per entrant (which this is).

in the opinion of anyone here on UF, do you think this qualifies as "one entry" or could it be interpreted as six separate entries?

warmest regards ~ james

Superb clollection of portraits James!! The colors, their faces, their clothes, really awesome! If I was you, I'd have uploaded each image separately, I think all of them are really good. I love the 2 first portraits (upper row), they are fabolous!! I'll keep in mind this area in China that you mention. Goes to my favorites. Thanks for shareing.

best wishes,
ferran
