OOps,forgot...once she's on her own layer, hit it with image>matting>defringe set on 1 or 2 px...it'll get rid of that dark halo around her. :-)

Marlyce, I agree with what everyone has said. If I can give you some post advice...
When you are preparing to select her, I would use the pen tool (if you're using PS)...just make sure it's set on "shape path" and not fill. Once you have your selection path drawn you can keyboard shortcut alt+enter to convert to a selection. I'd invert the selection and feather it slightly, THEN execute your cut/paste or apply your blurring, or whatever it was you did next. I find this method quicker than using quickmask, but qm is another option for you if you're better with a brush than with the pen.
Give it a little time and you'll get it just right! Can't wait to see another effort!
(love the dance move by the way)

Thank you Mary. Actually she wasn't posed, as I kept shooting while she was dancing. Her name should have been "HAM".

Thank you Ray. The cut part was trickier than I thought. I am going to try to cut this again and see if I can be a little more patient while doing it. Thank you for adding me as a friend, I am honored.

She is gorgeous Marlyce- so glad you got that eye-it is beautiful. Great pose and to see the hands like that. (Just read the comments about cutting- I don't find it easy as my hands shake- so good for you girl for doing it at all!).

This is a real cool cutie Marlyce with a super cool pose that telegraphs what must be a wonderful personality. Your composition of this informal portrait is wonderful and the postwork was a very well tried effort.....Very tricky and exacting work my dear. Eyecatching subject and well taken shot. All the best.....Ray
