P.S. We also found a farm where they had llamas, goats and other critters (the other critter were kept separetly in pens away from the llamas.) I made Kees stop the car and went over to say hi to the llamas. Kees kept saying, "Carol, we're in Appalacian country, you're going to get shot for tresspassing!" I refused to budge; I was too enamored by the llamas. Eventually a lady came out and let me take photos. Carolyn

Yeah right! How fast can a critter like that run!? :) Great photo. Feel like I could reach in a touch him. Carolyn P.S. We have lots of dandelions in Alaska. But the climbable (sp?) trees, fireflies and the many sounds of birds are all new to me. I'm getting used to the heat and love it. Also we don't have all these thunder and lightening storms in Alaska. Love those too. Plus more to do, plays and musicals, etc. And zoos! What fun!

The larger than usual amount of rain causes a lot of disturbance amongst animals whose home spots have been changed. We sometimes get these guys on the road. Their being close in colour sometimes means they are not seen so well and they get run over. It is a shame as they are wonderful creatures. I would not want to play with one though. This seems to be a decent sized one. The dogs in the neighbourhood had best be cautious. MAry

Nice shot of him, Del! Good details and composition. I like your title, too, although can a turtle really "run" away!? LOL! Dave.

Whoa momma! That is a beautiful snapper. Whenever I see one of these guys, it reminds me of something out of the pleistocene era. Incredible strength in those jaws. -john
