I accept what you both have to say and apologize to both of you.
You are both worthy in your own right and deserve what credit you receive. I know you will both do well in your chosen fields. Learn from each other. That is what life is all about.
I am sorry if I upset either of you. I will keep my opinions to myself.

Hi Judi,
Thank you very much for your comments and your intention. Since Marcus is one of the finest photographers that I know, I take it as a great compliment that you find my pictures similar to his.
I understand your comments about our style being similar. It is…but the reasons for that are what you are not clear about. Just to let you know, we live in the same area, (San Francisco Bay Area) we use the same photography equipment, use the same software for post-processing, and although the Bay Area is a large body of water (Size: 38 km (24 miles) by 71 km (44 miles)) the prime birding locations and species are limited. And, we shoot together very frequently. We have a mutually beneficial relationship in which we share information and learn from each other continuously. I am greatly indebted to Marcus for all that he has taught me, but at this point, I think we would both agree that the growth is bidirectional and our work together makes us both better photographers.
A style is something that permeates a group of people. In art, the impressionist, surrealist, and cubism movements have been among groups of artists working together and sharing their passion and ideas. I cannot dare to compare myself to these great masters, but I think the parallel is applicable here. I hope that you can appreciate my pictures for the passion and pursuit of excellence that I try to impart in each one, and Marcus’s photographs for the same traits.
Take care Judi and just like everyone else in UF, I am happy that you are posting again.
Kind regards. Yamil

Judi, I know we have been friends for some time now though not so much recently as you have been going through alot. I am glad to see you posting again. I DO however need to strongly disagree with your comment to Yamil. and actually find some of it a bit disturbing. I did try my best to show Yamil my good friend all that I have learned over the years, This in inself does not make a great Bird photographer. Yamil and his wilingness to learn and detemiantion is what makes him excel at this fine art that we both love and share! NOT the fact that I showed him some camera settings and advice. Yamil has been on his own for a very long time now and his work is a reflection of him not of my work at all, he does at times get ideas from me, as I do just as much from him. I do not tell him where to go to shoot this or that bird, but we share information equally. He is now and has been for some time a well polished bird flight photographer that can do anything with a camera that I can do! sometimes more as he is willing to go the extra mile to get the shots he really wants and I respect him for this. With every excellent shot he posts there is no jealousy on my part only pride that I had something to do with his learning process, though i believe it was inside him all along and just needed a slight pointing in the right direction, Yamil and I often shoot togeather so you will find simular shots by us, this is not a problem to me at all as i hope it is not to him. So please show him the same respect that you have shown me over the years, he deserves it! So in closing I will say that Yamil is one of the nicest people you could ever meet, would never do anything he felt would take away from anothers work here. and for many reasons should a member be new to the art of bird photography, I would Like to be a Yamil Saenz over a Marcus Armani, his passion for what he does Is overwhelming to even me... Thanks Judi and all who may read this, when I am gone from UF which looks like it may be sooner then later there will be no loss in super high quality photos as long a yamil keeps posting them!

Hi Yamil.
I couldn't help noticing the similiarities of this image and this one.
http://www.usefilm.com/image/1132430.html
Now I am going to say something here and I DO NOT want you to get upset.
I think you are a fine photographer. And I know that Marcus has helped you. But I think you have the capabilites of growing on your own now. You need to do that to be able to find your own style and your own way. If you don't you are only going to be trapped under his wing. And I think you can do better than that.
Go out and see the world through your viewfinder. Show the world what you see...your way. Not by anyone elses direction.
Marcus is a fine man...but he found his own style his way...and has done well in both teaching you and showing you the right locations. Now you need to return that favour by showing him what you are capable of. Be yourself Yamil. I have faith in you.
Your friend.

Very nice yamil, those chics are really growing fast and probably will be flying within a week or two, I like the crop, I think you could have made a really nice panoramic with this crop and had it up to 1200 pixels wide. I did that with my harrier shot from awhile back and it came out really good. your usuall excellent capture..
