window light, for the most part
this is the crop I get from my lab...

I've just discovered that the lens on the zeiss is not focusing in relation to the marks on the barrel. Fortunately, I've been taking notes with each shot, and by taking identical shots with the exception of the focal distance, the problem and correction became apparent.

When I received the camera I removed and cleaned the lens, and upon reassembly did not align the threads properly. As it is, each quarter turn of the lens starts the threads in a different location...odd, but I'm hoping this will correct the focus problem.

This is a camera that requires you to focus into your shot a bit. Also, as it is marked in meters I have to try to remember to convert it to feet - my way of thinking distance - and I often forget!

I had missed this completely !! took me to find it from the front page. Awesome composition, light, and the best thing - a feel of a scene from a movie. I would be immensely proud if this was in my portfolio.

Did I say WOW ??

oh... this is trully an excellent compo Kes... emotive... phobistic... theatrical... soft colors blend beautifully with the shadows... the use of back light and the thin fabric in front of the boy give an eerie ghostly feel that contrasts and yet complimets the girl's form half hidden in darkness... my congrats on this one... superb work...

Hi Ray, and thanks so much! I've made some adjustments on this camera's lens so it will have another turn. I forgot to mention that it took me a few shots to figure out that the bellows has to lock all the way out!

"Eureka! So this is what lead feels like," I said, holding my head, "It is quite dense!" LOL!

All the best,
Kes

Hello Himadri,
Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I'm happy that you like this shot!

Behind my son there was a white cotten sheet, not see-through fabric as in front of him. This was near a window with the setting sunlight coming from behind my son. Also some light from a window on our left. I may have placed something in front of them to reflect some light...can't remember. In the print there is subtle detail in her face...but my scanner doesn't seem to have the range to get that without washing out the brighter areas.
Best regards,
Kes

Another fascinating camera that I remember so well from my past Kes.

This is a wonderful creative idea my friend the lighting is superb and shows your daughter well in semi-silhouette. The tones in the study provide that haunting atmosphere that many have picked up on. Highly imaginative posing and a most remarkable composition from you and your excellent bargain Ikonta.

This is a serious portrait but I have to tell you that I cannot help but think of a humourous title of 'he's behind you.....' It' UK pantomime humour:):) I love too your 'about' and the tale of coming to grips with this very fine old camera. My very best wishes to you as always Kes.....Ray

Hi Andre, thanks! This came out darker than the print, which in turn appears to have cast a darker mood upon the shot...and of course that's ok with me! Ha!

I tried a dark comedy shot - "she ain't comin' back" - but it's a real stretch of the imagination...and that's kind of funny in itself.

Anyhow I'll take a look at your new shots in a few...

Very ethereal, in a "sixth sense" kind of way. (Good movie by the way not too scary for those of us who like their sleep.) This image is very still and sad. It looks like the have been waiting for rescue for a long time. Cathy

Hi Kes,
I have to have a closer look at the rest of your recent images tonight. I've come across this one because we have our latest very close together.
This is a very good, haunting type image. In a way I like the title, so I have to dis-agree with Gayle on that regard. The title evokes a kind of a sad scenario of the kind no one wants to really dwell on. Very dark mood! Very well done!

I'm in a bit of a lighter phase myself lately. Sometimes you have to have a bit of a break from the darker stuff :)
I really like this kind of image though. Very creative!

Thanks Gayle! I don't watch many movies, especially those scary types - have to sleep nights - but I'll think about the title, lol!
Best,
Kes

hi,haunting image with apt toning...like the contrast level and positions of your children...the title doesn't fit in my mind and think perhaps a title from one of the chilling films involving children would be more suitable, but of course takes nothing away from a great image!
regards,gayle
