A very nice phot, Howie! In the majority of cases a macro wins through each mm of DoF, but you managed to do the opposite and have an excellent composition, in which selective focus guides the eye to the main object of interest!
I think that the rather dark colors work very well with your selective focus, giving the photo much of a very suggestive abstract.
Definitely one of my favorite types of photography!
