Hi Klaas,
Very powerful photo, I really like those rays of light... I do feel the division between black silhouettes and sky is a bit too equal. As the attention is drawn towards the splendid sky, the silhouettes act as a mere frame (a very important one, though) I think that if you'd panned up a bit, the effect of the subdued light might've been a bit stronger.
Good PS work, though. Although I appreciate the effort to keep photos as natural as possible, I believe minor postprocessing can really boost the impact of a shot, and this is a good example. Very nice work.

I mostly use Cokin filters. Lots of folks probably make this kind of filter though. It starts out dark purple at one end. At the other end its clear. About the middle the lightest purple stops and the clear begins.

I'm very honored by your comment brother, especially because not everybody is thinking it's better than the original. And I agree, by working on it the not so strong details in the foreground are gone in this version, but I find that the more stronger rays are more important, and that's what this all about.

Hi Maryam, good to hear from you again, and you're totally right, but did you read the about? The sunrays however look more strong in the worked one, and thats what I try to do with this experiment.

Thanks for your concern James, but this was only an experiment, nothing permanent.
Normaly I do no PS work, just the photo as I took it.
I'll try to find a filter like that.

great shot...as i compare the original shot and this one u worked on, u've lost some details in back and foreground that strenghten your original pic. the shot u worked on could be a nice abstract with wonderful tones but i always prefer the originals ;)

It's too bad to lose out on all of the detail in the foreground. Can you use filters on this camera? If so, consider adding a purple graduated filter to your bag. Works wonders on shots like this one. It's one of my most used filters. (Can't use filters on my current point-and-shoot Canon, but soon....)

I like the beams of light and the strong silhouette in a nice simple composition. In a couple of days I'm leaving for a holliday in France and hope to get a change to shot some mountain silhouttes as well. With a result like this i would be very, very pleased.

The photo I shot was a little pale by the overlot of sunlight, with the adjustments of the Photo programm I tried to made it a bit more clear, so you could see the rays even better.
