I hope it's a "cheer you up" kind of self-reflect :-) Retirement is a good thing. It's earned by experience. Cheers!! -Ann-

Wonderful mood, and as I near retirement age, your photo gives me pause to self-reflection.

In photoshop (not elements, don't use that one) you would use a panel called levels (control-l).
Slide the black left bar to where your darks start, the white on the right to where your lights start, and slide the middle to adjust the contrast. Whoo-pee!

Hey Michael, how do I gain the truely dark darks on this photo? Should I do it in photoshop or should I shoot it differently? Thanks for your comments. I always love your work. (reason for me to join). Ann

Hey Ann:
Welcome to usefilm. Toning is interesting and looks like an antique print, but it seems to be on the bright side, with no truely dark darks.
I do like the use of the rule of thirds (google this) to offset the old truck.

In my humble opinion Ann, this is the better of the two in expressing your thought. Althoght I like weeds also! Nice toning in both. Like the focus on the old car with everything else slightly blurred. Well seen and well done! Thank you so much for the visit and your nice comments...appreciate the feedback--Regards--Bill Voizin
