About I know it is a little grainy, comes from shooting action shots in poor lighting and that is the top of the picture, I did not crop down on the tail.

Thank you very much for the suggestion of Noise Ninja for high iso grain, it was instrumental in saving some recent eagle shots.

All the best,
Ed

despite the flaws, still a nice shot. a shame you didnt get the whole tail but thats the way it is when you shoot this type of photo. i usually just keep pumping off the shots (continuous shooting), and one of them will turn out right (not always tho).

nice work. james

I can see a little bit grain but who cares? This is a GREAT shot and I think one of the best ones from your series! I love the movement you've captured.

This animal looks in the peek of condition. Just look at the detail around the ribs. You have captured the movement beautifully. Cathy

wow, I haven't looked at many pictures so far this morning, but this one all ready has my vote for picture of the day, perfect timeing, and excellent job. But my vote may not be much. I think perfect of a action shot like this.

Thank you for your comment Dave.

I am told that with the 1.5 magnification of the D70, my 300mm acts like a 450mm, didn't realise that qualified as a short lens. But I have never pretended to know anything about the equipment I use, I have a lot to learn.

Perhaps the grain is only noticeable when you look at it in the larger format, but thanks for the hint on the noise tool.

All the best,
Ed

You got pretty close for such a short lens, Edward. Really nice moment, I didn't notice the grain you describe. If you find the grain to be unpleasant you could try noise ninja, it works pretty well for high iso grain.

Cheers,

Dave
