Justin... On my monitor the cobblestones are only just visible... Now I know... :)
A very unknown path into the darkness we take at some stage of our lives and this depicts that so very clearly... Yet if not taken, we stand to lose a clearer insight into our own sense of self...
Excellent work, very evocative...
Onie...

Nick, thank you. This was taken late in the day, and the lowered sun cast this object into relief against its surroundings. As I recall, the settings were 1/800 @ f5.6. The image stored on my computer reveals the cobblestones in greater detail, about 1.5 ev lighter than this uploaded version, and, thankfully, without loss of contrast. alas, the image my browser shows me appears slightly imbalanced because of the loss of detail; perhaps yours is better.
your comments are most generous, and, again, i appreciate them very much. j.

Though it is really hard to say if the photo appears on my monitor exactly as it does on yours, Justin, one think I can say undboutfully! Another thoughful composition and definitely not one of the countless "snap shots" that we see every day! What were your settings here?
Excellent work of art!
Nick
