Worship the Ghost
They say that many moons ago there was a knight, braver than any Knight who ever lived. He had slain many dragons, defeated many enemies and saved a great many kingdoms.
This great knight one day heard news of a fair maiden trapped many miles away in a castle high up on a cliff side, next to a stormy, cold sea.
How could his heart not bleed for her? How could he not save her?
The brave knight travelled many miles; day and night. Many perils did he meet on the way, and through it all the thought of the maiden carried him on. He felt his heart sing at the thought of her… When exhaustion led him to sleep his dreams were full of her spirit, entwined in his arms… her eyes meeting his... her heart beating his tune.
It seemed like a hundred years or more had past by the time the true knight stood at the foot of the cliffs; towering above him the gloomy remains of a castle long forgot... a castle in a foreign land, miles from his home; miles it seemed from any other life.
A castle from another era.
All around this magnificent structure it appeared as if life had stopped many years before… trapped in time. He climbed the cliff, his bare hands the only tool to carry him to the top... to the castle... to his love. His blood dripped freely from the cuts and wounds opened by his effort.
It took all his remaining energy to bring him to the castle gates. They hung half heartedly from their hinges… creaking in the wind… once, maybe, many, many years ago they held fast and prevented any foe from entering. Now time had weakened them beyond repair. Inside the wind echoed through the ruins as if to mock him.
He was too late A century had past since he started out on his quest All was gone All was lost
The wind howled, as if his love... angry that he had not saved her had come back from the grave to take his soul with her to oblivion.
His love, she haunted his thoughts now with screams.
His heart began to bleed… his despair too great He fell And darkness reigned once more.
