Hi Andree,
I will be losing my little red star soon too.
I doubt that they make a lot of money from donors. I would imagine that most revenue comes from advertisers on the site. I've heard that advertisers pay depends on the amount of hits per day to a site. I doubt it amounts to much either.
I have know idea where any of the money would go.

If you have Photoshop, you go to layer, layer style, bevel and emboss. A window comes up, click ok. Good luck. :)

To frame my images: After reducing the image, I create a copy as a layer and use the emboss tool to create the raise effect, I then create a canvas with my choice of color background and flatten the layers.

I viewed this yesteday but unable to come up with anything to say. Beach photos are my favourite so I can be overly critical. Now I have a fresh view and I must say, I like the simplicity and the composition of the clouds overshadowing the dunes. Sometimes in the hurry of everything happening at the beach we forget to enjoy the simple things of it. Getting down low has really emphasized the beauty of this dune. Well done and congrats on the award.

Thanks Dave. I have removed the original version discussed with Hugo. But basically, in the original version I had used filters and other digital manipulations that he thought ruined the image(his words were more gentle). This image is the original version of the shot as it was taken with minor digital post processing. :) Andree

Very good shot! the sky is very strong almost crushing the few grasses on the dune. A good angle, too! Minimalistic, but with great imapact! No wonder it made the DoD! Congratulations!

The photo itself is very good. I like the lighter foreground against the threatening sky, and the relatively simple scene. Very good photo!
