Hey Sugar! LOL! No, not in the darkroom. I've got family visiting me this week and then we're driving to CA for my Dad's 80th birthday today. Compressed time and "busy-ness" that has nothing to do with photography (but I will be taking pictures, of course). Be back on Monday or Tuesday. Miss me. ) Big hugs. ~Rocky

Thanks very much, Paul. I made the framing a PS Action, so now, basically, it's just one click to add it. I really appreciate your comments. Thanks taking a look at my work. ~ Warm regards, Rocky

Hey Sweetie! Thank you so much for the feedback and compliments. The "look" involves a little complexity of steps but in reality, it's really simple.
Start with a color portrait. Duplicate the background layer. Change the blending to "Hardlight." Run the "High Pass" filter on this layer (for finer detail keep the setting low). Add a Dodge & Burn layer to selectively lighten or darken certain areas. And finally, convert the image to B&W using your favorite method. I prefer to use the Gradient Map Adjustment layer which gives me some added control over where the gradients will break. That's the essence of it. Big hugs back at ya! ~ Ol' Hawkeye. :)

I love it!! It has such a classic look to it, the tones and light are absolutely wonderful my dear. His skin tones almost have a waxy appearance, interesting and very very good, for me anyway. I'd like to know how you achieve that look. I like the expression you captured, so glad you didn't throw this away..the whole image and package have a very professional look. Excellent portrait work Ol' Hawkeye. I like the way you composed it, the blacks surrounding him are wonderful...it's perfect for me, the framing is awesome, great great work Rocky. Hugs!!! :)
