I understand the debate between color and BW in this shot. The color shot is quite beatiful. For me though, the BW captures more of the "antique" aspect of this old ship, giving it a more historical look, while the color shot makes it look just very slightly like an amusement park novelty. It's just a slight impression created in my mind and others will disagree, but it is a difference I see between the versions.

Mr Longo thank you very much ...I am still debating my self between the B&W and the color.

tremendous composition. The vertical orientation works well and B&W was a great choice here. I think the chromic simplicity of the sky and sea set off the detail of the ship very well. Excellent work!

J-E:
Great use of PS to add the dramatic sky and the B&W conversion is a great touch too . . . you get an entirely different feel for these kind of images in b&w that just don't come into play with the color version.
Although I think the shot is outstanding . . . I should point out a couple of things that come to mind: Midtones and contrast . . . I don't have the tools to give you a really good example (not at home). . . but play around with them a bit. To my eye this image . . . though very very good . . . is a little bit flat. I see Clive has used curves to adjust for this same issue but I think that just a slight amount of work on midtones and contrast . . . or light levels . . . would be sufficient. And, of course, you've kept an eye on that horizon level?? ;)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

I like this B&W version. Good composition and nice mood. But as already stated it needs more contrast to make it sparkle. Regards

Although this is a good image it looks a little flat to my old eye's. IMHO it needs a little more contrast. The image overall looks too greyish.
I took the liberty of making some adjustment myself.
