Great example/use of telephoto compression. I really like this alot. The white plastic lawn chair actually adds an ironic twist to the image.

I like this shot. I like the muted browns and reds contrasting with the green. I like the pattern made by the row of buildings ... a feature which is enhanced by the compressing effect of the telephoto lens.
And it has the touch of nostalgia... btw I lilke the viaduct shot too.

Yes people still live there, but not many and most are elderly. The village is now a state historic site, and as the current owners either die or leave their homes, ownership reverts to the state... at least that's how it was explained to me. It's kind of a depressing site (they still mine nearby), but you get a very good idea of what company town life was like and how miners lived until very recently.
