Okay, on to the more serious photo work of the night. Thought I'd try my hand at sports photography. I know I'll do much better next time. First of all, I was generally unhappy with where I had to shoot from (midway up the stands on the 30yd line) and if I can swing getting down near the field on ground level next time, my action shots will turn out much better than the ones I got this night. I did manage a few "set" pieces that I don't mind. Here's the first.
Yeah, I can't wait til the next time I have an opportunity to get down closer with a better angle on things! Fortunately, this lens if fairly sharp wide open (not horribly sharp, but manageable) so it makes a nice enough lens for the job. Works better in the day stopped down a tad though.

P.S. Should have seen the look on several peoples faces when you carry around the "bigma." lol
Good start Jacob. The position of the photographer does make a difference (as I found out at the raceway. Still, you can always get a good shot or two (especially with THAT lens)! This one came out quite well.
