I've done something similar with one of my simple still life images...used a black foamcore with holes in it and light behind to simulate stars.:) I may post it soon...it's called 'Mystery Planets'.

There is one work (probably more) of his where the backdrop is a painted board of some kind and there are all these holes in the board and a light source behind it. So when he photographed the whole scene the light coming through the holes looks like stars. This image (even though they are repeated fireflies) reminded immediately of that piece. I think it's also in H Anyway.

It's not that your subject resemble his subjects. No, it's more that your techniques share some of the same objectives. Have a look at this one:

http://images.epilogue.net/users/woodroffe/k2HELFORDRIVERDET1.jpg

It's actually a combination of paintings and sculpture and real objects. The final product is then photographed and that is what you are looking at.

I tried to find the cover for his book Hallelujah Anyway, but no one seems to have a good shot from the cover. Similar stuff: a composite from photographs, objects, sculptures, paintings--all finally photographed. That's the book to get if you can find it.

I can see where you take influence from Wulfing.

Keep up the good work.

Interesting to me that my work reminds you of his...since I don't see any similarities, but that's okay. Have you seen the works of Sulamith Wulfing? I love her work, and have done a couple of things inspired by her paintings. http://www.artpassions.net/wulfing/

Yeah, the images aren't so great. Tiny. If you have a look at this one:

http://www.patrickwoodroffe-world.com/images/imagepage/i1VIRGIN&CHILDTEXT.jpg

you get some idea of what I'm saying.

His books are better. You can probably find them in the library if you can't get them used/new (amazon maybe). In some it becomes difficult to discern where real objects and made objects begin and end.

This shot (yours) and some others (from your collection) remind me of this kind of work which he does.

Ah, it's just hard to recognize what you're doing with the pinwheel.

Are you familiar with Patrick Woodruffe?

http://www.patrickwoodroffe-world.com/

He uses some very insteresting multi-media constructions for creating his images. This reminds me of some of them.

Fantastic composition, my friend!
Loved the colors and the idea.

One thing I guess it is amazing is the manner your models follow your ideas. Different ideas! (LOL)

I see on the face of your granddaughter that she is flying on the starts and shinning to your lens.

Good job (from both)!

You know...those colorful little toys that spin in the wind...a 'whirlygig'. It is no longer possible to find one like mine around here. It has clear vanes, and glows like neon when I put blue gels over my strobes. It only cost me a dollar, but I've gotten so much from that small investment.:)
