one of those photos that falls into the "almost" category. like my photos, which are each and everyone, "almost". the tonal harmony is very good, even striking, as is the compositional texture. however, the photo seems to suffer from the choice of object somewhat, since the tree is not rhythmic in its patterns, and contains too many chaotic elements. this appears to prevent the eye from developing a relationship to the image, maybe?
over looking your portfolio, i see many "almost" photos, wayne, images that are close to very good, some, even, great. but there's something missing in them. i have exactly the same problem myself, and in my case it involves, among many causes, stuff like unfamiliarity with how my camera "sees", impatience--not relocating the tripod, not waiting for the light to shift, not merging with my object sufficiently, for instance--or trying to pre-determine the photograph, and not letting the photograph determine me. maybe i just suffer from lazy photographic values.
anyway, it is a good image, although it says more about the eye that captured it. it's in there, wayne.
