Hmm, just about patterns, rhythms, phenomena that are not... completely ruled. For example, did you ever tried to recognize a rhythm in that sound that is generating by an applauding public? More of that in an email? Bbelieve me, it's more fun than anything! (Or else it wouldn't be a subject of mathematics) ;-)

I think, it is the way all those roofs are combined in a chaotic sequence, that gives us the impression of individuality of each house in that place. It seems that this "many" still somehow manages to create a "whole". This way the roofs build up a world of its own - just imagine being able to wander like spider-man up there ;-)
I did that some times, but of course with much more effort than good old spidy ;-)
That's why I wish I had his abilities, but this is surely the stuff for another photo series. ;-)

This is a very appealing image!
It is strange how all those different angles somehow combine to come out very balanced. Lots of good depth set up by the large roof in the foreground.

Yes, it has been Santa Nicklaus trying to take a shot, in order to remember where to land next year, since it can get difficult to calculate the right coordinates with so many roofs ;-)
BTW - Claus, Niklaus, Nikolaos, Nick, have all the same root. So perhaps I should prepare the red uniform? Any photo sessions, anybody, with a heavy metal Santa Claus ;-)
It has been the appartment of and old sympathetic pair that lived there for more than 20 years. Very warm hearted people. I was still searching for a new place in Lucerne at that time, and this was one of the appartments I took a look at. At the end I did't take it because it was a bit too large for me, but it had that special feeling, and that special view over the roofs of the old city.
As about the roof window, well my viking maid, you can make it yourself! You only need a saw, a fitting window, and a bucket. Cut a square piece off the roof, place a window that fits, and there you go. Very helpful for studying the natural phenomena you already mentioned, but also for the predictions of chaos theory about the rhythm of falling water drops in the room. That's what the bucket is for! It's chaos theory - fascinating ;-)

Thank you very much Suzan. Another one of that older part of the city where still real people live, with all their smiles and all their scars, and not some holograms of a shining, wonderful, perfect, but yet plastic world.

Now who did you cook for in order to get this shot?? Santa Claus stuck in the chimney?;-)
Seriously a great shot with the line of the roof and the surface broken by the window that makes me wonder who lives there. I´d love to have a window facing the sky so I could lie inside watching the stars, rain, lightening etc. :-)
