About This image (8345) was shot at Golden Gardens park here in Ballard on 1 September 2006.

I played with the levels and contrast and such trying to get the tones just so without removing any of the tasty details. You can say whether I succeeded or not.

Oh, yeah. And that's my friend Charlie in the hat. He's a photographer too. Help me encourage him to come aboard.

Hi James, the slight soft nature of the image gels well with the colors and mood of the photo. Good shot!

Wow! When I see it I hear such music like good old Bon Jovi at "Wanted Dead or Alive" or Blackfoot at "Train, train".

The essence of cowbody live captured on a photo. How nice!

Take care and keep it up,

Nick

Christine - Thanks. Yeah, I was thinking something between Hitchcock's horror and Leone's spaghetti westerns.

Nice James-- I caught the blue on the water on the first viewing, so IMHO, no problem with the levels... keeping it this dark gives it a bit more of an ominous feel, especially with ol' Charlie lurking off the the side there... (I'm thinking Hitchcock...)

John - Thank you. As long as one enjoys what they shoot I suppose they are in good territory.

Hi james,
Unfortunately my depth of photographic skills is very shallow and I obviously don't appreciate the 'abstract' type of pic that so many of our members do. That is not to say that I can see the artistic side of the pic of the 'last candle', it just isn't me. Being honest, here in reply to your request for my feedback.
Like yourself, I welcome ALL comments, as they all go to fine tuning photographic skills.
Cheers, James.

Thank you, Enrico. My friend Charlie is a cowboy photographer. He's the star in this movie. Hehe. I'm just the director and cameraman. Like Sergio Leone.

John - Thank you. You might take a look at my photograph 'The Last Candle' for an example of a photograph which tells a tale. Would appreciate your perspective.

Great shot, James.
I prefer photos that have dramatic impact like this, or that tell a Story, this pic does both. Well done !

Anastasia - Thank you. Blurry? Hmmm... the leaves were moving in the breeze, but it seems like all else is steady. Is that what you see?

Roberto - Thank you. I have studied French, Spanish, and Italian so reading Portuguese is possible (a little). Also, plenty of translators on the Web. I'll see you around. Keep up the good work.

Marija - Thank you. It was a lucky shot in that he accidentally walked through a shot I was taking of the sky. I'll post another later where we set up the shot and you get to see the whole hat. Haven't seen you lately. Hope all is going well.

Charlie - You made it. Excellent. This one I shot a bit later than the couple we set up. I was just shooting the sky and you happened to walk through the shot. Good enough. Here is the unPSed version.

Very nice! Moody and even mysterious...I just wish cowboy Charlie's hat was clearly visible (not touching the leaves I mean) as the impact would have been even stronger.
Oh! just noticed Charlie DID come aboard...welcome!
Well done James.

you have encouraged me, thank you.

i like the picture, a bit darker than i remember ;)
and yes i can just barely make out the blue in the water, but only because you mentioned it, otherwise i never would have noticed.

Thank, Phil. It may be too subtle. The water is still blue, but probably people have to look too closely to see that. Might make a better print. I don't know.
