You're welcome, Larry! Don't know why anyone should be offended.

Thanks, Shirley. I had a few good laughs with this one, which was the intent. I'm surprised that nobody has really found offense with this, at least that they've cared to comment on.

Well, not only is the photo hilarious, but reading the exchange in the comments has been so humorous and entertaining. Dave, love your response to Michael, telling about the location of the store and the tacky sample tombstones lined up on the sidewalk!:)

Yes, actually the CO-TX rivalry is one sided. Coloradans despise Texans... Texans just despise any Yankee, not necessarily Coloradans.
But most people think, like you said, it has some bearing on them buying land or trashing the state. It actually goes back much farther. The ONLY battle Colorado had in the Civil War was against a Texas regiment. The Texans were enroute to invade the state and the Colorado forces moved into New Mexico and fought the battle there. History indicates this was the onset of Colorado's dislike for Texans.
All my family is in CO and for the past 8 years, I've felt a chill when I drive in to see them with my TX plates. Luckily, now, I have NM plates (which may be worse, the way New Mexicans drive LOL).
Yes, when the CA influx started after the Northridge earthquake, I left Denver. It was such a nice place before then. No traffic, no crowds, just laid back. I hate what has happened to CO, though I did profit from the boom since I owned a house.

You know, as a Texan, who has lived in CO for 4 years now, I'm not sure about the hatred...from what I've heard, it started many years back, when Texans would come to CO with their "oil money" and buy land. Basically, I think the Coloradans were offended and felt they were being taken over. It's funny, because 95% of the people I know here, aren't from CO...they're from CA, TX, OR, UT, etc...it's like a big melting pot... As a side note though...I would never put a "Native Texan" bumper sticker on my vehicle here...for fear of what I'd come back to in a parking lot! ;)

Thanks, Sheryl. As a Coloradan who successfully lived in Texas for 8 years without getting smacked, and who travels there frequently, I have to bite my tongue sometimes... but I'll "wink, wink" at your TX comment....
BTW, do you know why there is a major "hatred" between Coloradans and Texans? And it has nothing to do with Texans trashing the state with their littering.

Well, since it clearly comes with a comfy pillow, I guess the only thing in the 'more' category I would want might be an air freshener.

Personally, it's not the title I'm creeped out by it's the PICTURE of the casket next to the word "casket". Do they really need to add a photo? I think everyone knows what a casket is.
Ok enough ranting. Good eye. ;)

Heh Heh Heh, Michael, your sense of humor is as bad as mine. The "& More" is what caused me to stop and shoot the photo in the first place. My first thought... "how tacky". But you delved a little deeper into intrepretation of the humor.
Here's a couple of more humorous things you DON'T see in the photo.
- Suite C is located off the lonely side of the strip mall rather than facing the street. Almost like you'd find a seedy adult bookstore, half hidden from the majority of the public view.
- Right down the wall from my crop, they have sample tombstones lined up on the sidewalk, like a hardware store would line up used lawn mowers. Had one of them said "Your Name Goes Here", I would have died on the spot and gone to heaven.
My big question... how long before we see "Casual Casket-Big and Tall"? Or "Casket, Urn & Beyond"? LOL

Dave:
"I'd like one with all the fixins. All Y'all have a nice day, y'hear?"
Several things make this hilarious to me: - Helvetica. This font, embraced in the 60s as sharp and cutting edge hip has spiraled into representing the worst of design through proliferation in all strip mall signs and computer blandness. The irony kills me every time.
- Lovely graphic of the casket, in case there was any confusion over what style and quality might be inside.
- the "& More". I'm sure there are a lot of necessary mortuary supplies like urns and other details I can't even imagine. The plain spoken-ness of this is over the top fantastic.
- Use of stained glass as a churchlike and respectable design element juxtaposition.

OMG, Ani. You truly are in synch. Do you even know that the MOST popular saying in Texas is "Bless your Heart", said with a deep Texas drawl? If you hear it once in a day, you hear it a thousand times. If I ever hear it again, I'm going to be a customer of this shop. LOL

ROFL Dave!!! You crack me up, bless your heart.
I often wonder why people are so kind of "uptight" about death... is it not, after all, merely a common everyday part of life???
By the way, I love the photo.
Big hugs, sweetheart! And I'll take a cardboard box if I must. I intend to be cremated and don't want to waste such valuable wood and all that pretty satin and stuff... Ani :)
