thx martin. i thought you said something about the lighting but that was sheila, sorry. when someone is giving his opinion - which i really appreciate, especially when, like you, have taken the time to redo some of the artwork - i always give my opinion about the photograph and explain why it is taken this way. It is a way of me dealing with critic. I don't defend myself, i only explain why i like it better this way. And for that matter: what i didn't like about it myself.

Marco,

I don't recall telling you, that the lighting was harsh. I love your shadows, background, as well as the colours.

What Sheila ment by "bg" is background, not cropping... Take it more lightly my friend... ;)

IMHO, you are too hard on yourself...

I'm the same way, so don't worry too much my friend,

Marty

martin,
in this we differ from opinion. I think a b/w filter only works if the object of capture is pronounced better. Black and white here would blur the typewriter with the background. Now, it stands out because the background is wood. Besides the colors give it an old feeling already, in my opinion. But I appreciate your serious view of my work. As for the harsh lighting: i chose to photograph it in that way, because i liked the shadows so much. And Sheila, i don't know what u mean by bg, but if you meen crop then i may agree with you. This was just a part of the machine, because i thought it would be more interesting then shoot the whole machine.

Marco,

I know it's hard to mess about with your own work and I love the colours of the original, but this 1 commands B&W tones IMHO...

i think this old typewriter has a lot of photogenic qualities and many possibilities... for this shot, i feel your bg is very distracting, should be shallower and the light is too harsh, it's also a bit soft.. but, please keep trying, as this is a very beautiful old typewriter, lots of potential for cool shots.. i love the dust and rust.. b/w OR sepia would work well for this shot.. look forward to seeing another of this... regards, sheila

hey michele, thanks for your comment. I like these kind of old machines, though i prefer working on my laptop when i have to type . I grew up using a typewriter and i had a course touchtype when i was about 12, but since then i got a pc but for fun i still used a second hand typewriter i bought on a fair. Not as old as this one though .

Nice image Marco... so many young - ger kids have no idea about what typewriters are ... Like my grand-kids ! Progressive times we live in ... It looks like it would still work just fine too... Nice light, and good clarity...interesting crop as well.

Best wishes,
Michele~

hey martin, excellent! Thanks. I tried to put the capture in black and white also, but i liked the gray color in combination with the wooden chair too much, that i couldn't desaturate it.

Marco,

Well seen indeed my friend. I hope you don't mind my playing about with your capture, but I can't help myself...

Martin
