I really liked what Ian said, about the block being a sentinel of sorts in this. I realize the large trees could be seen as protectors but I chose to give that responsibility to the "monolith' because if you saw that in reality I truly do think you would leave those tree's alone :-)

Ho I love that black picket fence. The converging lines framing it work especially well for me. The sentinal block actually quite plausible in 2006.

I like the main idea you are talking about, but what interests me more is the sci-fi feeling of that monolith to the left with the light in the center of it.
