thank you nessa .... i know they are humungus roots... apparently some of these trees are 150 yrs. old..so i guess this is the size of roots of this age !

Wow - now that's a lot of green. Vibrant colours, very attention grabing.
This looks like a nice spot, if you've been wandering for hours, to climb up onto that downed tree and take a load off yer feet.
I like the way the green surrounds the earthy coloured path and roots. This gives some attention to the roots, despite being surrounded by the bright leaves, moss, etc.

Thank You Marco ... it's really like this because of the natural lighting and the rain forest type thickness and humidity here.
On the pathway to the top of the mountain barely any sun gets in this would be the about the most) It's like a covered path for over 2 miles..then you're on your own and it's very bright !!!

Thank You for stopping in...and for such a nice comment. I am going back to your portfolio again since I just looked at a few of yours and am now curious to take a deeper look... You are definitely right about 'whatever I see at the moment ' becomes my photographic interest... so I'm thinking we've got a lot in common ! I agree much more fun this way !!!
Oh and I don't have PS ...what you see is what you get pretty much... maybe a bit of saturation or color enhancement, but not in this shot...it is really natural... I sharpened it with my program (zoombrowser)only to a 7 which is not much as far as I know.

Michele - after seeing your comment I popped over here to see some of your photos. I liked the Roots shot from earlier today but this one I find even more striking. Excellent detail, tone and color. Possibly sharpened in Photoshop, not sure about that. Very well done. In looking at your overall portfolio, I see a similarity in our photos; whatver we see at the moment becomes the subject of our photgraphic interest. You pick all kinds of subjects and vary the way you take and show them. More fun that way, as far as I see it..

Thank You Paul ... It is very different being up there... I meant to carry some mace, but forgot. People are definitely the minority , and if you are loud you scare everything away, or they warn all the animals of a human arrival, and if you're quiet... then you do see some things you could live with-out seeing!!
I got lost for 10 hrs. one day + night and had nothing but a big stick to protect myself if it were necessary , thought I was gonna have to sleep in the woods.... it was a lesson I guess I didn't learn well enough from since I keep on waundering around the wilderness alone.

Wow there are some really big roots! I love the fall tree you added there on the side of the frame showing all that moss! I get the feeling of being trapped up there and turning around to see a big man eating animal that has me trapped and all there is to do is take one last great photo to leave behind before he sends me to my resting place! Great view Michele!
