Very nice shot -- really excellent portrait. When I have nothing special to post, I find myself turning back to favorite photos of my children too. Although this one should be posted for its artistic value as well. Very nice work.

Thank you for the wonderful compliment David! Not that long ago I felt the same way...I could only hope to be half as good as so many others here on usefilm. (and I am still trying to get there)
I'm still VERY much a beginner! The good thing...time, patience, practice, and being involved here has helped me tremendously. (along with a good photography book or two!) Watch and learn, ask questions, get yourself a book about the basics of photography, practice and experiment!

Another good shot Robin . . . I like the lighting and the tonal range . . . and the eyes are so expressive. I don't know if you 'dodged' the whites or not (but have my suspicions maybe perhaps a tad) . . . In PS E4, dodging eye whites, I'd be cautious not to overdo it . . . setting it at 30-50% . . . but then, that's me. Sometimes too much looks a bit 'off' when too clean. Now this young man is a handsome heartbreaker in training . . . somehow it's sooooo much better (and easier) being a grandparent! Very nice work my friend . . . very nice. :)

It's good to look back and pluck one out of the 'bag' sweet Robin and this is a lovely shot to do that with. The lighting is wonderful, the facial details, especially those eyes, are excellent, the dof is perfect and the conversion to these beautiful mono tones is lovely. Well done to you.
I still have shots in my 'to do' raw and tif files that go back some while that are awaiting my attention. I am pretty sure that I have some of Noah herding the animals on board the Ark:) :)

The quality of the picture is excellent for me, Robin. The lights in the hair and the eye, the shadow in the face and shoulder, the softness and texture of the skin ... all beautiful works.
